Check out our 2023 Bradford visit to Sully!
Bradford and Avon and Sully-sur-Loire
Bradford on Avon and Sully-sur-Loire have been twin towns for over 30 years.
Twinning exists to promote and foster friendship and understanding between the two towns, with visits on alternating years to each town and social events throughout the year in Bradford on Avon. It is great fun, a wonderful way to make new friends both in Sully and in Bradford, and to get a personal view of life across the Channel.
We warmly welcome new members. No need to have good French or be able to host visitors, although of course we would welcome any offers of accommodation in late May every other year. What matters most is to have an interest in meeting French people and fostering friendship between our two communities.
Sully-sur-Loire is situated on the banks of the beautiful river Loire and within easy reach of many historic towns and villages. Sully has its own magnificent Chateau from the 13th Century set in a park of open country and woodlands. The Duke of Sully (1569-1641) was the First Minister of Henri1V and together they gave France 20 years of much-needed peace. Following the Wars of Religion, the Edict of Nantes guaranteed religious tolerance.
